Well, I thought life was good, Managed to survive Katrina & keep a house, but then... My 15 yr old son became very ill & now he has to live in a residential treatment facility. I had a great job Before During & after katrina, but when my son became noticeably ill, I had to spend more & more time away from work & the bosses didn't like that, so I don't have that great job anymore. It cost a lot of $$ for the doctors - even with insurance, deductables & all, ya know? - and with less & less coming in, I fell way behind on bills/house note - well I tried to get the bank to work with me, but they didn't, so now my house is being foreclosed on. I also have a healthy 12 yr old daughter (and pets) who is helping me to box up our lives right now. I have sold what I can & still have things I am trying to sell. Then to top it all off, The absent parent stops paying child support :) Ain't life grand :) So tomorrow I get to go apply for welfare (wow $142 to live on for 30 days at a time) while trying to find a place to live that I can afford.
I don't know why life has come crashing down on me like this, i am not a bad person I don't use drugs, I don't cheat or steal - I just dont' get it, but apparently G-D has a plan from all this so i am hanging on.
Anyway - i realized that i am down to a whopping $1.35 in available funds. Oh yeah - i do get foodstamps - $18/month - seriously! They looked at the last 6 months of child support (when the absent parent was finishing off paying off $3000 in arrears)and determined that that is all I am eligible for.
We have no power in the house, 1 extension cord that the neighbor lets me run, no water (this happens with no money) - I sold my car, my couches & the washer & dryer are listed in the paper & Craigslist. Camp stove for cooking :)
Anyway, if you can or are willing to give us a hand, I would really appreciate it.
